I always hear that if you pay for gas and it's expensive. That is because it is the good brand. For example, Chevron is always going to be expensive because the gas has techron. So I guess you pay for what you get.

Around here our Midgrade prices are pretty consistent between brand name stations and independent stations. Our Regular usually runs between 10¢ and 15¢ higher.

Oh, yes, Techron. I sprinkle it on my oat meal every morning. Love that stuff.

Helo CristyCA. I pay approximately $.24 more for non-ethanol 87 octane gasoline now being offered by a truck stop one mile away from my home. They just added this product about three weeks ago and I do see a gas mileage improvement. Just how much is yet to be determined. On the highway (I have a real time gas monitor), it has gone to 30.1 MPG. Prior to that my highest reading ever was 28.1 MPG. I still have some 10% ethanol in the tank, but over time it will be diluted to near zero.

The other issue regarding additives and different brands of 10% ethanol has never changed my vehicle's mileage or performance in almost four years of ownership.

Thanks for the nod, Mertie ....

Just last week, I saw a tank truck pull out of an Exxon station, then into a Shell station less than 1/2 mile away. I'm not impressed with their marketing

Edited for poor speeling

I won't disagree that one brand, or another brand, may be more expensive than a non-branded blend because of additives, CristyCA, but, just asking, is this something that you just learned? That the higher price is because of higher quality, in the same manner that a Maybach or a Bentley is more expensive than a Kia or a Nissan?

It's called marketing, if they can sell you on the fact that their fuel is better, you'll pay more for it. Same thing with food, clothing, etc...

A sucker born everyday. I never used the product and my 23 year old car gets 34 mpg in the highway.

Oh, give me a break. This gas has Techron, this gas has nitrogen and this gas has that the other brand has something else. If you believe all of this junk then I have some ocean front property I would like to sell you cheap in Lexington, Kentucky on Main Street. All gas comes from one central terminal close to your location and I can prove it and it all comes in on the same pipeline to that terminal.

I find that my cars run very well without "Techron". It doesn't need the "nitrogen enhanced" fuels either. In fact, 87 octance with E0 added would be great (if I could find it)
