I have a 2008 Pontiac Torrent which I believe is the best vehicle I have ever owned. It gets moderately good MPG, has a lot of kick-ass ponies under the hood. I particularly like the 6 speed tranny which is married perfectly to the power house engine. I like the lighting in the interior when I am cruising down the highway at night. Has all the whistles and bells I wanted, and rides like a much more expensive vehicle.
The only problem I have is finding 18" tires at a reasonable price. Everywhere I have checked wanted my wife and first born for four new all season tires. Guess I may have to bite the bullet on this one and mortgage my house for a set of tires.

I just replaced the DexCool from our Torrent, and the shop flushed the rad and refilled our system with a product called Celsius. I am not familiar with coolants, and have never heard of Celsius. I suppiled the distilled water to mix this with, but am concerned about the coolant. It is pink also. Has anyone ever heard of this coolant, or should I have it replaced with green coolant? Is the color of the coolant that important, or should I trust our mechanic in saying that Celsius is an improvement from DexCool. Also the shop did not flush our system as it was very clean, and we were told that if there was any DexCool left in the system that it would be just a minute amount,it would be diluted by the new coolant to the point of being miniscule. We should not have any concerns about it. Is this true and should we just let it be as it stands now?
Thanks for your input in this matter.

Besides. The mechanic can get rid of the Dexcool....You can't. Dexcool is slightly toxic & can't be poured down the drain. It has to be disposed of properly.

I have pretty well decided now that I should take this in and have it done by a mechanic. As you say, I will have a guarantee if I have a problem.
I was hoping to save a few dollars, but as you say it could end up costing me a lot more than I would save.
Thanks

To do it properly, if you have any reservations about the process whatsoever, I would take it to a mechanic that you trust and have them do what you're talking about. That way the work is also guaranteed, or, should be.

Good luck!

I have read on this site the problems that are created by using Dexcool in my coolant system of my Torrent. I would like to get all of this coolant flushed from my Torrent, and replace it with a green coolant which if I am reading the posts correctly, is far and away superior to Dexcool.
I have never done this before, and do not want to create a serious problem by doing something wrong. I believe I know how to do this, but I may be missing something in doing this in how I think it should be done. Does anyone have any suggestions, or comments on how to do this, and any signs of serious problems I should be looking for. I certainly would appreciate it if anyone could post anything I should look for,or how to do this properly. Many thanks for your help.
