'Ticket Amnesty' may help government collect revenue... but is it fair?

GasBuddy Blog -- We all want roads and highways that are safe, uncongested and well-engineered. And yet, just about every state has a growing list of roads and bridges that have been long neglected... the money isn't there.

On the local level too, municipalities are looking for every way they can to generate revenue to maintain infrastructure and pay for basic services since more of the burden is falling on state and local budgets. Consequently, more and more are toying with "ticket amnesty", a practice that advises motorists that if they received parking tickets and haven't paid them, they can pay just the face value now, and the city will grant them amnesty on the late fees, which can often double or triple the original fine.

Fuel taxes need to be used for the repair or replacement of roads and bridges only, Not used for other unrelated projects the federal or state government thinks is more necessary than maintenance of roads and bridges! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible! The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

So, make them pay the bill. Or make them work on the side of the road cleaning up trash and helping the road maintenance crews..

Garnish their wages, don't allow them to renew their license, something . . If there isn't a consequence to the action They'll just do it again.

Hospitals do it all the time yet they claim they "donate" many services. The fact is, they take the accounts off the payables, get court orders, and enter the money made into "miscellaneous" and it doesn't show on the books.

A little amnesty goes a long way in getting at least a little from the offenders!!

Just look at our justice department who sues states like Arizona and Alabama who pass immigration enforcement laws that, get ready for this class, ENFORCE THE LAWS ALREADY ON THE BOOKS. I know that's hard for liberals to understand when there are all those undocumented Democrats just waiting to vote illegally. If they can't pay their fines - TOO FRICKIN' BAD!! And: It seems that some cities are using this to collect ticket fines that they either were not truly serious about collecting (such as by towing/booting/impounding vehicles), or were not enforceable in the first place.
